I love online games and I'm pretty sure that Stargirl does to. We also love to be smartypants. Stargirl is quite the nerd...and I mean that in the most loving way. What's one way to combine a love of addicting online games and a thirst for knowledge? Online trivia! When you one-up online trivia by doing good for people around the world, you get the following games that, by getting questions right, you donate water or food to people who need it. 10 grains of rice of rice, a spoonful of flour, or a cup of water might not seem like a lot. Wait until the addiction kicks in, however, and that 10 grains of rice really adds up. So do the 10 grains of every other person around the world playing. This was the first do-good online trivia game I was introduced to. This game tests your vocabulary (you can choose other subjects, but that's how it starts) and for every right answer you get, 10 grains of rice will be donated through the UN World Food program to help end hunger.  Health ca...

Students of psychology and language are currently engaged in a debate regarding the impact of social network media on linguistic changes. One camp holds that the ever increasing use of texting is having a deleterious effect on syntax and spelling. This, according to the denizens of this camp, is diminishing the written expression of our youth. On the other side are those that see the constant engagement with messaging as a positive development that is expanding the writing experience in ways that lead to creative usage and enriched self-expression. All aspects of living languages have always evolved in accordance with other changes taking place in society at large. In fact it is exactly this flexibility and adaptive power that makes a language thrive. Language cannot help but reflect cultural changes. So it's Free For All Friday, and I am Steven a.k.a. Livewire. Today I will be writing about one of the greatest things in the world: beer. I have discovered over the past few years that apparently I have a taste for a more sophisticated type of beer. While most college students stick with their Buds, Millers, Nattys, and Keystones, I need something I can enjoy. I feel I approach drinking more like an art, not just drinking for the sake of getting drunk. So with that said I present my top ten favorite beers/breweries. 10. Pabst Blue Ribbon (Woodridge, Illinois) - This is the only true contradiction to the statement above. PBR is on this list simply because it is my favorite beer for drinking games. I used to be an indie rock kid. Somehow, I found myself in a friday-night-dive-bar-dance-party scene. I made lasting friends and I learned what the "indie" of "indie rock" meant. I made friends with the people who put on a bi-weekly dance party and got to hang out with some of the bands. I even wrote for an indie rock website for a while (greenvillescene.com) but the venture didn't go as any of us had hoped. While my stint as an indie kid was short, I learned to love indie rock music. The CDs I purchaced at these concerts are still in regular rotation and they are so good that I need to share them with you. Check out their myspace pages to listen to their songs! The Winter Sounds - I first heard these guys in July of 2007 at one of my bigger indie rock concerts. By that I mean it wasn't in a dive bar, it was in an actual venue.
