Capsule Wardrobe: Day 6

Image
Day 6: Rust-colored skinny trousers, Cream/black blouse, black half sleeve cardigan, black boots. Again, new additions to the list. Perhaps capsule wardrobe isn't the best descriptor because I'm not keeping strictly to the list. Oh well. The rust colored trousers and the cream/black blouse were both purchased this summer and worn once or twice before being forgotten. Somehow, things disappear in my closet. They might disappear in my giant laundry bag, or they might hide in my under-bed drawers which holds the clothing I discard before bed, or they might just be hiding under my jumble of boots in the back of my closet which I organize once every few months before leaving them to topple over themselves. I was discussing my purple skinny jeans with a colleague yesterday. I said I normally wore black and gray. She said I could wear purple pants on casual Fridays, but I think they might be a bit too bright. These rust-colored pants are less startling to look at. Day 5:

. Day 5: Gray skinny trousers, black scoop neck top, white collared blouse (different), black oxford pumps (similar) It's no wonder that I failed to include my oxfords in my Capsule list. I found them last night while cleaning the game room. They were still in my luggage that I took to DC in July! Eegads. The blouse is a different white collard blouse than yesterdays. This one has lovely pearl and gem accents on the collar. A chain headband to hold back my faded unruly hair (actually, I really love the unruliness of my hair). I was unsure if I should do tucked or untucked. I am currently untucked. I am also amused that I basically took yesterday's outfit, swapped the places of black and gray and pulled my hair back. Lol. Day 4: Black skinny trousers, white collared blouse, gray dolman sweater, black flats Day 3: Skinny jeans, red 3/4 sleeve tee, black vest, black flats Day 2: Mid-wash jeans*, white 3/4 sleeve tee, black vest, saddle shoes Day 1: Gray skinny

With an actual photo! Also with wet hair and a duvet falling out of the duvet cover because we never make the bed. Cute cover though, no? It hides cat hair surprisingly well. Day 1: Gray skinny trousers, black printed top, black half-sleeve cardigan, black patent pumps Day 2: Mid-wash jeans*, white 3/4 sleeve tee, black vest, saddle shoes Day 3: Skinny jeans, red 3/4 sleeve tee, black vest, black flats Day 4: Black skinny trousers, white collared blouse, gray dolman sweater, black flats *added the jeans as detailed  here So, as predicted we've got black, white, gray and red! Oh but the red was on a Saturday and I only went to the grocery store. And then I wore for the next three days . I'm feeling mostly better. Once or twice a year I have a few days when all my bad crap hits me at once and I stay at home feeling sorry for myself. Kinda. I mean, there is more to it, you don't need deets and I don't wanna give 'em. I don't understand people who r

Capsule Wardrobe: Day $&@^#

I haven't been posting my outfits because I haven't had any since Friday. I have been sick since Saturday night (blearg). Saturday DAY I wore my skinnies, a red 3/4 sleeve tee, black vest, and black flats to go to the grocery store. ...aaaaaand it just occurred to me that I'm still wearing that tee. God I'm gross. That's how you can tell I'm sick. I didn't even bother to change into one of KSwiss's tees or anything. I HAVE switched my undies and pj pants each day, though. I'm not THAT gross. I just genuinely didn't realize I've been wearing the same tee for three days until now. I might just have to burn it.

Online Shopping: Rule #67

Avoid shops that advertise this much camel toe: Note: I was not planning on buying a pair of bubblegum pink pants . I love black, but it's hard to make out details on black clothing. I select brights and pastels when I can to determine whether the pants actually have a fly and whether or not the models are vacuum sealed. In this case, it helped me to spot the camel toe. If you visit the website, you'll notice it more than once. It's weird and sad.

Capsule day 2

I've organized my closet in such a way so that the clothing I selected yesterday is on a center rack, and everything else is pushed to the sides. Quicker than actually packing. All pants and sweaters are still stacked on the same shelves. I might have to move some things around there. Yesterday's outfit was gray skinny trousers, black printed sleeveless top ( similar style here ), black patent pumps and black half sleeve cardigan. My favorite cardigan actually. I almost didn't buy it because it cost more than $10 and I was feeling cheap that day. I'm glad I did. I may have to purchase another in gray or navy if I see it again. Despite being on a wardrobe fast, I'm willing to consider purchasing clothing if I feel that it'll get considerable wear. I'm also thinking about navy skinny trousers, if I see some I like, and I've been looking for a perfect black thin knit turtleneck sweater for, oh I don't know, three years. Today's outfit is a

Capsule Wardrobe: 2013

I've been thinking about capsule wardrobes lately. I've done a short one in the past when KSwiss and I were moving. This time it's less of necessity. My closet has been overwhelming as of late and I just can't be bothered to think about it in the mornings. I've realized that I'm living in a kind of capsule wardrobe. I wear basically the same thing to work every day: skinny trousers, blouse/tee, cardigan, pumps/flats. Now, I have a BURSTING closet and I know there are things in there that I do not wear. It's not that I want to get rid of anything right now (no, T-Rex, you cannot keep those dresses), but I'd like to see if I can par down my wardrobe a little. I know that there are lovely things that I'm not wearing that I might wear ( my long dark red skirt from Toronto , for example). They're hiding and I can't be bothered to find them.  So here is what I'm going to do. I have a big green tub in my closet, as well as a few boxes

Work 9:01: Made excellent time getting to work today and had no trouble securing a parking spot. This is surprising because students are starting classes today. 9:02: My computer requests that I restart it. Sorry bub, I got no time for your updates. postponed. Catch up on news, check my to-do list and plan the day. Shoot out a few emails. 9:30: Eat a pack of Lance crackers and begin putting the finishing touches on a survey draft. Maintenance man comes in office and asks if everything is good. Replaces flickering fluorescent light. Fist pump b/c I don't have to do a request and it happens immediately. 10:15: Leave to volunteer at the Student Info Table (basically directing students on the first day of class). Forget to restart computer. 10:20-11:30: Student Info Table time. No good stories, what a bummer. But I did get free shitty coffee and a free pen/stylus . 11:35: Meet with my boss about the aforementioned survey. It was long and wordy and a little confusing. It has been
