Pixel Imperfect

I don't think I've ever written a post quite like this, so if it's complete shit, forgive me. The cornerstone of curating my personal style has been to take inspiration from absolutely everywhere and experiment experiment experiment. I read dozens of fashion blogs and, while I don't pattern mix like Kasmira or preppy like Audrey (see links below), I take bits and pieces of inspiration from their style. I did a lot of thrifting to find unusual pieces and bought a lot of shit that just never worked. I feel pretty settled in my style... for now! You never know when a wave will come along and wash me to a different shore. So, this is about how I developed my personal style. This isn't really a guide as much as a narration on my method. By far one of my favorite things about working in higher ed is the fashion. Yes, the fashion. The incredible variety that you will find at committee meetings, for example, where both faculty, administrators, and executives are involved. My last committee meeting had a gentleman wearing cargo khakis, a bright red tee (with some sort of image on it), and a short sleeve blue button-up, unbuttoned. It looked what the IT kids wore when they were in high school. There was a woman wearing fitted trousers (no judging there, I wear fitted trousers as you know) tucking into Uggs (judge judge judge!). Who wears Uggs out of the house, unless you are a college student or maybe you're running a quick errand. But more importantly, who wears Uggs to work... on a day when you have a meeting?!? Wednesday  night! I haven't blogged in a while so here we go. This week I trimmed my hair and my bangs. This is what my bangs look like now . This is what they looked like prior to now , just kinda flopping around purposelessly. It's quite layered. I never thought I could layer my long hair but it's loverly. This is what I look like now.  Hair is unstyled. It was styled yesterday. This morning I just brushed it. The bangs would lie nicer if I'd used a flat iron. I am also trying to wear lipstick or gloss more often. This is a Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Pinkerbell and it's an awesome blue-toned pink. I love this formula. Topped with Beauty Rush gloss in Ice Tease. I've decided that squeeze tube lip glosses with plastic applicators are my favorite. It's much easier to wipe transferred lipstick off the slanted applicator than it is to wipe it off of a doefoot. My makeup has been on for 6 hours, the photo includes no touch ups! No outfit photo, I'll post it later, but I do have a haul to share. I didn't mean to come home with $18 bottles of nail polish yesterday, but somehow, I did. A few of them are not for me. I have a friend who recently discovered nail polish and it's getting their mind off of a recent break-up. A couple of the polishes are for them. Total spent was approximately $35 (including tax). Everything except for Sinful Colors was on clearance or sale. You can bet that I wasn't about to wait for a sale to snap up the Leather Luxe collection, although I probably could've waited for the three permanents. I actually looked for my camera last night and couldn't find it. It's in an abandoned purse, stuffed on a rack in my closet, I'm sure.
