Wednesday Weirdness #5

Questions by: Another Suburban Mom 1. Is April 1st a fun day, or an annoyance? I think it's fun. None of my pull any serious dick moves. 2. What is the best prank you ever pulled or had pulled on you? I'm not sure. I don't think a lot of pranks get pulled on me. And I never pulled any good pranks. I never really switched places with my twin... on purpose. 3. What do you think is the most underrated sexual act? I feel like missionary gets a bad rap as being too vanilla. I mean, I love me some mint chocolate chip and strawberry cheesecake, but that doesn't mean vanilla is bad. Nom, ice cream. 4. What is your favorite website? Blogger , Youtube , an Kongregate . If it weren't for these three sites, I'd probably be a rocket scientist by now. (by blogger and youtube, I mean all the people I follow. I couldn't pick, lol). 5. What is the most annoying commercial on the air right now? I try not to watch commercials. I'll tell ya though, if you ask Boyfriend, i

1. Have you ever sent or received a sext message ? Yes. I used to sext with my last boyfriend a lot. Not so much anymore. I have also educated a girl in my class on how to sext. She was hopeless. 2. Have you ever made or received a booty call ? Umm, possibly. Maybe. I don't know actually. 3. Have you ever added or edited a word/entry to Wikipedia or Urban Dictionary or any other online reference? Only one wiki edit, but it was removed. :-( Not for any bad reason. I guess it just wasn't important enough. It was pretty darn random. 4. At what age did you have your first consensual sexu al experience? Erm, you must define "sexual experience." After all, kissing is sexual. My first kiss, however, was far from sexual. Seriously. I'm going to say that my first sexual experience was during the summer after my sophomore year of high school. This wasn't sex, but it was a sexual experience. 5. What has been the greatest age difference between you a consensual sexual p

Item # FM123

You know what irks me? Misspellings. You know what else irks me even more? Misspellings promoted by commercialism. Introducing a new nail lacquer by Nubar, Item # FM123 . Also known as J'taime. WTF. Je t'aime is French for "I love you" The spelling J'taime bothers me. Unnecessarily so.

Monday Memes

I thought today's Manic Monday was appropriate. Manic Monday #161 Do you enjoy brain teasers or do you find them frustrating? I love brain teasers! I love all sorts of puzzles. It is so good to challenge yourself every day, especially when you are no longer in school. If you like puzzles, check out this one that was just emailed to me: The God-Oppenheimer-Einstein Dice Puzzle. Do you have any unusual collections? I collect shot glasses and makeup. I don't think either of those are terribly unusual. I also have a rather large collection of Nerd Boys. Check out my prize nerd boy: What do people notice about you within the first hour of meeting you (other than appearance)? Dang, other than appearance? I actually wrote out an answer before reading the whole question, because I wrote: I have funny colored hair! "That lady has blue hair, Momma." "I know, honey." "No, mom, I'm serious. She has blue hair!" This was a conversation between a class

What's in a name?

Meme When most people I know say "meme" they mean an Internet meme . An internet meme is traditionally "a phrase used to describe a catchphrase or concept that spreads quickly from person to person via the Internet, much like an inside joke" more coloquially, lulz. Examples include Rickroll , Sup Dawg/Pimp My Ride and " I accidentally [insert noun here] ." Memes spread like wildfire among nerds, and often I find the need for an encyclopedia when talking to a non-nerd. Meme takes on a new meaning in the blogging world. Blogging memes are not just jokes and phrases. They are short word games, quizzes, or surveys. They are generally regarded as comment bait. The more comments one receives, the higher the chance of that "meme" spreading. How to pronounce "meme." Well, since it is a word that is often seen written and not heard, there are many pronunciations that one might hear. One thing that irks me about many bloggers and YouTubers is t

Psychological Androgyny

The term project for Developmental Psychology at Belmont Abbey College includes book reviews, an annotated bibliography, and website reviews. The first two are written, simply, in the traditional paper form. The website reviews are, aptly, done in website form. Developmental is always held in the spring, and the students enrolled this semester have all uploaded their websites today. None of the websites are terribly complicated. Like most people in the class, I created my website in Word. Some created theirs in Power Point (if they did, you may not be able to view it with Firefox). The purpose of the website was to review 5 websites dealing with your topic; in my case, psychological androgyny. Other topics included Personality Disorders, Attachment, Decision Making, Self-Esteem, etc. It was also beneficial in learning how to do certain things with web pages. Likes how to make links and things like that. BTW, it's not done the same way you make links with HTML, as with blogger. (Um,

STATS CAMP

Image
Ohmigod ohmigod ohmigod. I'm so excited. Breath. Okay. I am such a nerd. Guess what? You'll never guess, so I'll tell you. I am going... to.... STATS CAMP! Images property of APA For reals. I'm super cereal . Actually it's Advanced Statistical Training in Psychology . Only 12 people were accepted. WOW! I am that much more awesome. I really thought I wasn't going to get in. It is from July 11 - 19 at UMD. "During the week, we will explore t-tests, multiple regression, linear correlation, ANOVA, repeated measures designs, preparing for grad school, controversial issues in psychology, and more." You're jealous, aren't you? You are. I can tell.

Google Rocks!!

Image
I don't know about you, but I love Google. I first starting using some of Google's applications when Blogger purchased by Google and I needed to have a gmail user name. Now, I use multiple Google Applications everyday. Below are my top three (excluding blogger, o/c). GMail: I've begun using G-mail for my email. I have the e-mail from my college e-mail address forwarded to G-mail. I can also email FROM my college email address, so it appears that I sent the email from my college email. Sometimes it just looks more professional. Also, some of my professors require that. I label all my messages (Psycholgy, Work Study, Wachovia, Tiffany, Leo, Dadders, etc) and archive them. I delete very little. The amount you are able to store is awesome. I am not even at 3%. Google Reader: All the blogs I read, all the youtubers I keep up with, all the webcomics I read, everything goes here. It's super convienient. Instead of checking 25, 50, 100 sites to find out if they've been upd

Twitterpated

Image
Taken from Tiffasaurus! Verbatim actually. Except for the pic. I just like it. Plus, Twitter. Thx T. Do you twitter ? Since I started twittering, I have a lot of people following me that I've never met. Some of these are random and some are even spammers. But I'm holding out hope that maybe I have fans. (Ha-ha-ha.) If you follow me on twitter, send me an @reply or a DM to let me know that you're one of my readers and not a total stranger. I'll totally follow you back. ^_^

Friday Fill-Ins #2

Image
And...here we go! 1. Why do we have to have money? Money is stupid. I say this mostly because I have a lot of bills right now. 2. Wearing a modicum of makeup and blow drying my hair in the A.M. are now habits. ( My makeup blog ) 3. I have to finish a presentation on "The Mental Traits of Sex" by Thompson by next Friday. 4. I had never heard the phrase " i accidentally a whole coke " and so I did not learn of then dangers of when you accidentally a whole coke, until I accidentally a whole coke, too. 5. I slept in this morning, again, the way I always do. 6. How was I to know that you wanted the last of the ice cream? I eated it. I am sorry. :-( 7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to sleeping, I've been so tired this week; tomorrow my plans include studying and Sunday, I want to watch a movie or something ! I'm going to have a boring weekend. Play With Us:

Online games for good

Image
I love online games and I'm pretty sure that Stargirl does to. We also love to be smartypants. Stargirl is quite the nerd...and I mean that in the most loving way. What's one way to combine a love of addicting online games and a thirst for knowledge? Online trivia! When you one-up online trivia by doing good for people around the world, you get the following games that, by getting questions right, you donate water or food to people who need it. 10 grains of rice of rice, a spoonful of flour, or a cup of water might not seem like a lot. Wait until the addiction kicks in, however, and that 10 grains of rice really adds up. So do the 10 grains of every other person around the world playing. This was the first do-good online trivia game I was introduced to. This game tests your vocabulary (you can choose other subjects, but that's how it starts) and for every right answer you get, 10 grains of rice will be donated through the UN World Food program to help end hunger.  Health ca

Princess Party!

Image
During spring break, the cafeteria was closed. Boyfriend, Sir and I were still on campus, though. Various reasons; I had classes. I think Sir had RA work. Anyway, we were lucky to have friends who invited us into their home so we could have real food. There is only so much you can cook in a microwave. On Friday, March 13, we went over to Mason's fiancee's apartment and make some food. There was edamame, couscous, mashed potatoes, and brownies. Mason, Fiancee, Roomie, Sir, Boyfriend Then  K-Swiss  and I switched places, so I could be in the picture. Boyfriend and I Sir doing dishes after dinner Boyfriend and Roomie lounging after dinner It had just been Mason's Fiancee's birthday and she loves princesses. She wants to be a princess. :-) The decorations were still up and at dinner, we had a long, silly discussion over who would be which Princess. Boyfriend got to go first since it was his birthday (or it would be the next day). He immediately picked Bell

Happy Pi Day!

I said that I'd memorize Pi to 30 Digits by Pi day! And so I did. Happy Pi Day! p.s. I promise that I didn't just throw that in my head and I wasn't reading off anything. I haven't looked at the actual digits since the 13th.

Thursday Thirteen #6

Image
I was going to do: " Thirteen Things I'd Never Say To Your Face " which would be things that I want to say to specific (anonymous) people but I haven't done so and I may never. But it was making me angry and sad. I don't care if it's cathartic. I don't feel much like doing it. I am doing something I like much better: Thirteen of Tiwari's "Other" Movies The last Friday of every month, Dr. Rajive Tiwari (author of Facebook Status as Poetry ) shows a independant, usually lesser known film, to students here at Belmont Abbey College, and we discuss it. It is not part of a class. It's just something we enjoy. Each semester there is a theme. Included below are movies from the themes "Religion" "Fathers and Sons" "Home, Sweet Home," among others. Darjeeling Unlimited Into Great Silence Spring, Summer, Winter, Fall... and Spring Winter Solstice Sweet Land In Between Days Billy Elliot Abouna Requiem for a Dream Pi Scen

WW #46 Questions by: Another Suburban Mom 1. What makes a person sexy to you? So many things determine whether I find someone sexy. Smarts is defintely one of them. I have what I call an "intellectual crush." It's when I think someone is sexy solely based on their intelligence (though they may be very sexy in other ways as well). They must be able to keep up decent, zesty, conversation. What else? Well, a couple vices help. Luscious lips and long legs don't hurt either. 2. When having the 'number of sex partners' talk with a potential significant other, would you be turned off if they had slept with more than a certain number of people? If yes, what is that number? Oh, I don't know! I've never slept with someone who was promiscuous. I suppose it would depend on the relationship. And whether or not they could produce proof of negative test results. 3. Once and for all, pocketbook sized dogs and the people who carry them in pocketbooks. Cute or crazy?
