"Ah-ha," she declared softly. She'd found the Intermediate Reading section of Books-A-Million. She skimmed it quickly. She frowned. She skimmed it again. She focused on the "H" section. The closest thing she could find to what she sought was "The Hardy Boys." Not exactly what she was looking for.
She looked up and saw a BAM employee straightening the shelves, his back to her. She looked back at her books. Raised an eyebrow and looked back to where he was.
Gone!
She looked around wildly. No luck. She was too short to see over the stacks of books. She ran to the end of the aisle where he'd been straightening. Hmmm... She walked down the perpendictular aisle and found him straightening one shelf over.
"Hi," she said, and immediatly and unwelcomed half grin appeared on her cool exterior.
"Hey," he grinned back. "How ya been?"
"Super, except that, umm, where are the Harry Potter books?"
He shook his head and looked back at the shelf, smile playing on his lips. "You mean you don't know where the Harry Potter books are?" He lead her back down the aisle into the childrens books.
"Oh!" She exclaimed. "Kid's Fiction... I was looking in Intermediate Reading."
He pointed to a section on the shelf. Harry Potter. Most the books, she noticed, were the series. Of course. Where, though, would she find a set of photos of the characters?
"You're going to laugh, but you know the next movie is comming out soon?"
"Yea?"
"Well, some of my friends and I are going on opening night, and I'm dressing up-" she interupted herself. "I'm dressing up as Cho Chang."
As expected he laughed. "How old are you?"
"No, no, it'll be fun. I dig Harry Potter."
He laughed and looked around.
"Hey, I'll be right back. Don't run away or anything," he said with a wink. She shrugged.
"Maybe I'll make you search for me..."
He walked to the back and a few moments later she moseyed over to the bargin books: her favorite place to browse. Soon, she felt fingers rest on her shoulder and begin gently kneading the muscle.
"So, what are you doing tomorrow?"
"I dunno," she replied. "What are you doing tomorrow?" He laughed and shook his head.
"Well, I'm off tomorrow," he said.
"Crazy, so am I..."
"So," he asked again "what are you doing tomorrow?"
"What answer are you looking for?" She picked up a vegitarian cook book and flipped to the pastas.
"One that involves seeing you."
