Miss You Already
"Ohmigod..."
"No, no listen! You--"
"Okay, Patrick--"
"You started it all"
"Ohmigod, PATRICK!"
"Fuck that--"
"I'm gonna hang up"
"No, don't! Listen it doesn't--"
"If you don't shut up..."
"No, okay, Mary, here you are all--"
*click*
"Whatever," she rolls her eyes. "He was annoying!"
"You hang up on people a lot, Mary," said Kelli, her roommate.
"It gives me a sense of gratification and power," Mary grinned and tossed the phone. She picked up The Unbearable Lightness of Being and began reading it. Three, five minutes tops, she figured, before he calls me back.
When ten minutes passed and the phone had yet to ring and Kelli had already commented:
"I don't think he's calling back, Mary."
To which Mary laughed, "Whatever." And it was all cool, because ten minutes later, Jake called. Jake? Yes, dissapearing Jake.
"Hey, Mary, whatcha doin'?"
"Waiting for you to call."
"You've been sitting by the phone for a couple hours by now, then."
"A week, in fact. Thanks so much for calling. And by calling, I mean ignoring."
"I wasn't ignoring you. I noticed every single call--"
"Whatever..."
"I did! I just haven't had the chance to call."
"Because--?"
"I had to save up fifteen thousand dollars for that condo."
"Oh, right," *eye roll*
"So, when you commin' over, Mary?"
"Umm, hold on.."
She held the phone down to her chest and walked into the other room.
"Hey, Keltic," she said.
"Hey, Mary?"
"You mind if I go to Greenville for a bit," she asked with that guilty grin on her face.
"Yea, sure," Kelli agreed, curiously eyeing Mary. "Umm... what are you going to Greenville for?"
"Oh, just to see a friend..."
She returned the reciever to the proper position.
"Yea, Jake, Okay," she said.
"Okay, what?"
"Okay, I'll be over in forty minutes."
"You have got to be kidding me!"

120 H...
120 H...
G..
Hmm.
H!! :-)
She pulled into a parking spot and turned the car off. Making her way up the steps to 120 H, she was excited and nervous. She rang his phone. No answer. She knocked on the door. No answer. Tentatively, Mary twisted the door handle. It turned. Good. She pushed the door in a bit until there was a gap large enough for her to stick her head in.
"Jake?"
The thought that he might be a crazy psycho killer and she really was an idiot took this opportunity to superceed her thoughts. Great...
She pulled her head out and looked around. What am I doing, she thought, exasperated. She looked back in at the cue from an unidentified sound. Jake was entering the living room, grinning this incredibly adorable grin. Mary smiled back and let herself in.

He was laying on the couch. She was sorta sitting perpendicular with her legs over his torso. See, she had gotten up to look at "American Beauty" and he stole her spot. He lay down where she had been sitting because she had previously stolen the pillow from him. So, she sat where she had been sitting, which was now occupied by his torso. She slid off a bit, so her legs where hanging over his torso and she sat a bit on the couch. His arms were wrapped around her, and as they talked, he would lean over and kiss her arm once in a while.
"Qu'est-ce que c'est?"
"What?" Not that he knew french at all. He liked hearing her speak it.
"Qu'est-ce que c'est, mon petit chou?"
"Keep talking..."
"What is it that you want?"
"Mmm...," he kissed her arm. "You."
She looked at him. He hoped.
"D'accord..."

"I have to go..."
"No...," he'd just met her and he never wanted her to leave. "Do you really?"
"Jake, some of us have to get up in the morning," she smiled.
"I'll set the alarm," he said, pulling her close. She laughed.
"Good, when it goes off, call me and make sure I'm awake..."
He kissed her cheek and she turned her face to him. She closed her eyes and he kissed her again and again.
"Okay, I really have to go..." She got up and grabbed the make-up bag she was using for a pocket book. She walked to the door and opened it. He came up behind her and put his arms around her waist. He kissed her neck and her cheek. She twisted around and he kissed her lips. She stepped forward out of his arms and walked down the stairs.
"Hey," he called down, leaning off the balcony. "When are you gonna call me?"
"Three a.m.!" She laughed. He had called her more than once in the wee morning hours.
"Yea, right," said Jake. "Call me tomorrow, okay?"
"No way, you've gotta call me, buddy. And sooner than three weeks from now! I'm tired of calling you and being ignored."
"I wasn't ignoring you!"
"Call me tomorrow," she said with a wave. She got into her car and drove off.
At Pelham and Haywood, her phone rang. Who the--? she wondered. She answered.
"Hey, Mary." Ahh, Jake.
"Hey, miss me already?"
"Yea, I do."
"Well, I'm on Haywood, come get me," she said. She was tickled. He said he missed her already, even if he was being jovial about it...
"I'll be there in a minute."
"Oh, too late, I just turned onto the highway."
"Good, I'm already in bad."
"So go to sleep if you're so tired.
"I'm about to..." Pause. "Well, I just wanted to know, when can I see you again?"
"Ohmigod..."
"No, no listen! You--"

"You started it all"
