He's gonna buy me a Mockingbird

Ever watch a mockingbird sing? It's kinda neat. As it sings, it keeps quickly changing its tune, like if you sang a song in which every line was from a different song. I wonder why the mockingbird mocks... Birds sing to attract their mates, right? Who is the mockingbird looking to attract?

I've read that, while their mimicry may sound convincing to a human ear, such is not true to other birds.

No, hummingbirds are small, very quick little birds. You'll often see them, hovering in front of flowers. I'm not sure if they sing at all. I've never heard of it.

A mockingbird mimics the songs of many other birds. They have even been known to mimic some electronic and mechanical noises.
