Modern Warfare 2

I would love to make a delightful post for right now. I really would. In fact, I've taken many photos off of my camera, tweaked them ever so slightly in Picasa -- I am no wizard, just trying to make the coloring look less yellow (I failed). And saved them, intending to upload the photos and post a blog. Unfortunately,  K-Swiss, along with Pete and Tim, is in the middle of slaughtering terrorists. Or, occasionally, being terrorists. Still slaughtering though. Uploads will have to wait until later.

Today, I cooked five dishes. Spaghetti (ever so easy), risotto with carrots and broccoli*, couscous with sauteed mushrooms and Parmesan cheese, homemade mac'n'cheese, and split pea soup. Some black beans are simmering on the stove as we speak. In about 1 hour, they'll be made into black refried beans. Then we'll go purchase some tortilla chips and have a yummy snack. :-)

More shocking than actually doing all this cooking (which I only did so I could be lazy for the rest of the week) was that I did all the dishes while I had a lull in cooking. When everything was simmering or baking, I washed the used pots and pans.

I'm not actually sure why I was so productive today, but I'll not question it. I'll just be happy that I've got a full to bursting fridge and plenty of food for the whole week.

BTW: if you are ever without a rice cooker and need to cook rice on the stove, follow these directions. Works perfectly and your will not end up with dry, overcooked rice stuck to the bottom of your pan (this is what always happened to me). I actually had to look this up because our rice cooker was and is out of commission. I had no idea how to cook rice without it. What? I'm Asian! I learned how to use the rice cooker with I was six!

*This usually has some chicken in it as well, but I forgot to defrost the chicken. It's thawing as we speak. Tomorrow I will sautee the chicken and toss it in to the risotto.
